Bob Green
Perhaps more than any other individual, Bob Green (Greenstone)  contributed to the distinctive Keener sound. As production director, announcer and ultimately program director, Bob was instrumental in creating Keener's audio image.

"My opportunity to go to Detroit was simple chutzpah," Bob says. "I heard some nifty jingles that a friend in Buffalo had on tape. WKMH. So, I sent an aircheck and production demo indicating ..'I'll be in Detroit on vacation next week and thought I'd send this, etc'. When I got the call from Frank Maruca (who had been hired only a week before) to 'stop in'...I almost went nuts. I had NO trip planned, I was BSing. I 'got sick' at WGVA, got in my car and headed for Detroit. Got the gig. Talk about right place right time etc."

After a stint at WKMH, Bob migrated to WQAM in Miami where he worked with future Keener jocks Ted Clark, Jerry Goodwin and Bob Bernstein, who was on the air as Rock Robbins and rode his skateboard to Keener in 1965 to become Scott Regen.

During Bob's tenure at WKMH & WKNR he was the production director. Paul Cannon says that this was, ".. for obvious reasons...he is a genius. Bob could produce the greatest promos and spot ever done. I am convinced much of the success of WKNR was due to the terrific sound of our production. "

A fixture during Keener's glory years in the mid 60s, Bob was called back to the station in 1970 as program director to try to resurrect WKNR in the face of CKLW's top-40 dominance and the growing popularity of FM. He put together a winning air staff that included Jim Tate, Mack Owens, Ron Sherwood, Dan Henderson, Scott Regen, Bill Garcia and a very young Pat St. John. But Keener's deficient AM signal proved a competitive disadvantage and Bob ultimately moved to Houston Texas, where he heads Bob Green Productions.
